Magnetic Web Shooter Not Sticking? What to Check

By the WebShooter Team

If a magnetic web shooter is not sticking, first check the tip configuration and the target surface. Increasing launch force or repeatedly firing at the same wall will not resolve a missing or nonmagnetic tip, and a smooth-looking surface is not necessarily magnetic.

This is a basic diagnostic guide for the line-and-tip features described in our listings. It does not replace the instructions supplied with your model or provide modifications to the mechanism.

Pause launching and identify the exact problem

“Not sticking” can describe several different situations. The tip may not attach even when placed against the target by hand; it may attach briefly and then fall away; or the projectile may not reach the intended position. Those observations point to different questions.

Put the prop in its inactive state according to its instructions before checking it. Do not aim toward people or animals, and keep the line away from anyone's face. If a part is loose, cracked, or damaged, stop using the prop and contact support rather than testing it further.

1. Confirm which tip was supplied

Read the exact product listing and the instructions for the version you received. The current PS4-style web shooter listing includes a notice about a demagnetized component and sourcing an 8 × 5 mm magnet locally. That means the listing's magnetic-attachment description should not be taken as proof that every shipment contains a ready-to-use magnetic tip.

If you are unsure which configuration applies to your order, send support the product name and a clear photo of the supplied tip. Ask for confirmation of the parts and setup for your destination before buying or fitting a replacement. Do not choose a stronger magnet or improvise an attachment based only on its size.

2. Confirm the target is magnetically compatible

Wood, glass, and ordinary drywall are not suitable simply because they are flat. Metal surfaces also differ: a metallic appearance does not establish that a magnet will attach. Coatings and the shape of the contact area can further complicate a test.

With the prop inactive and only where its instructions permit handling the tip, check attachment at close range against a known compatible surface. If the same tip attaches to one surface but not another, you have learned something about the target without needing to launch it.

Use a target you are allowed to touch and that will not be damaged by the test. Avoid testing on another person's belongings, delicate finishes, or anything you intend to pull toward yourself.

3. Record what happens before changing anything

Useful observations to share with support.
Observation What to check next
No attachment on a known compatible surface Confirm that a functional magnetic tip is supplied and correctly assembled.
Attaches to one target but not another Compare the target material, coating, and contact shape.
Attaches when placed gently but not during use Ask support to review the model's setup and operating sequence.
Line appears tangled or catches on the casing Stop and use the model-specific instructions; do not pull harder to clear it.
A part is cracked or loose Stop using the prop and request support.

4. Check the line visually

Look for visible tangles, snagged clothing, or a strand caught around an external part. Keep this to a visual check until you have the correct reset instructions. The descriptions of reloadable, replaceable webbing do not establish a universal loading method for all five designs.

Do not pull on the line to lift objects, support weight, or test how strongly it holds. These products are cosplay props. Magnetic attachment is an effect and should not be interpreted as a load-bearing capability.

A useful support message

Include the model name, the components supplied, the type of surface tested, and whether the tip attaches when placed near that surface without launching. Add a close-up photo of the tip and, if requested, a short video following the supplied instructions in a clear area.

This gives support a specific symptom to investigate. A message saying only “it does not work” leaves open whether the issue is the tip, target, line, or operating sequence.
